The Dash of Division

Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in My Opinions and Rantings (Views: 4415)
Today, I saw a t-shirt at the airport that said "Proud to be an Italian-American". What is up with this? I can't wear one that says that "I am a White-American". Yesterday, I went to look at XBox 360 games and saw the "Black Football Experience", headlined by former Redskin QB Doug Williams. Incidentally, Mr. Williams, thanks for really setting the race thing back a couple of generations. Even though this would never pass the test being racist, I wouldn't buy the "White Football Experience" either. It's obviously not racist to push the other.

It sounds like the answer we need and the answer we're getting are 2 different things. Does any sane individual think that division among the races and nationalities is actually going to bring us closer? The sad part is that it probably took someone with a college degree to figure this one out.

Is anyone aware the hyphen is a mark of division of two entities? What happened to being Americans, or is this simply "not cool" anymore?

I've seen a lot of change lately, and a new favorite quote of mine comes to mind. I'll keep my money, my guns, and my freedom, and you can keep the change.
