Windows 7: Fun with installing IIS

Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in Technical Articles (Views: 1471)
Most average people don't need this at home, but if you're looking to install the web server role in Windows 7 (likely also to work in later versions), here are 2 methods to do it. I am saying this from the context of a SCCM Distribution Point install, so feel free to modify this as you need to.

The PowerShell way:
Add-WindowsFeature “IIS-WebServerRole”, “IIS-WebServer” ,”IIS-CommonHttpFeatures” ,”IIS-
StaticContent” ,”IIS-DefaultDocument” ,”IIS-DirectoryBrowsing” ,”IIS-HttpErrors” ,”IIS-HttpRedirect” ,”IIS-WebServerManagementTools” ,”IIS-IIS6ManagementCompatibility” ,”IIS-Metabase” ,”IIS-WindowsAuthentication” ,”IIS-WMICompatibility” ,”IIS-ISAPIExtensions” ,”IIS-
ManagementScriptingTools” ,”MSRDC-Infrastructure”

The DISM way:
dism.exe /online /norestart /enable-feature /ignorecheck /featurename:”IIS-WebServerRole”
/featurename:”IIS-WebServer” /featurename:”IIS-CommonHttpFeatures” /featurename:”IIS-StaticContent” /featurename:”IIS-DefaultDocument” /featurename:”IIS-DirectoryBrowsing” /featurename:”IIS-HttpErrors” /featurename:”IIS-HttpRedirect” /featurename:”IIS-WebServerManagementTools” /featurename:”IIS-IIS6ManagementCompatibility” /featurename:”IIS-Metabase” /featurename:”IIS-
WindowsAuthentication” /featurename:”IIS-WMICompatibility” /featurename:”IIS-ISAPIExtensions” /featurename:”IIS-ManagementScriptingTools” /featurename:”MSRDC-Infrastructure”

For those of you who love the command line, of course...
