Forcing that SCCM client out of provisioning in OS Deployment

Thursday, April 30, 2015 in System Center (Views: 1567)
So, sometimes that SCCM client just won't come out of provisioning mode. It happens, and is just a pain to have to deal with. So, you have a choice - you can either keep playing with the client until it finally agrees, or set 2 registry keys.

Where you ask? In a Task Sequence, right after the Setup Windows and ConfigMgr step. Either add 2 "Run Command Line" steps, or create a batch file (which means another package, not my preferred method).

Either way, these 2 commands need to run...
REG.EXE ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CCM\CcmExec /v ProvisioningMode /t REG_SZ /d false /f

REG.EXE ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CCM\CcmExec /v SystemTaskExcludes /t REG_SZ /d “” /f

Once those run, you should be back on your happy way with client communication. Happy deployment.
