Chase: Innovating

Sunday, July 25, 2010 in Technical Articles (Views: 4096)
One company that has really been impressing me lately about how hard they are trying to innovate is Chase.

Chase has come up with some amazing new tools lately, one of the more impressive was for its iPhone customers. You can now use their mobile app to deposit a check using a picture of the check from the iPhone without a trip to the ATM. Sounds creepy? Sounds too good to be true? I tried it, and it works.

Some catches here: You can only deposit $1,000 in a day, $3,000 in a month (probably to limit their liability). But, it was quite impressive, I must admit. You would have to think that this was well thought out for fraud, and I'm sure some will try it - and it will be interesting to see how this technology turns out.

On the ATM front, you can deposit cash directly into the ATM, as well as checks, with no limits (except for 50 checks and bills at once). The checks are read automatically and can tell how much it is for, and will allow to print a receipt with an image. Now, this feature isn't new - it's been out since at least 2007 when I first saw it.

Chase is moving forward, and trying. It's a good company to be with, and one that has done very good work with innovation, using technology to make my life better.
