Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Monday, April 11, 2016 in Technical Articles (Views: 1673)
One issue that kept popping up on my Windows 10 laptop, although it did happen in earlier versions of Windows was an occasional message "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered", when I had a NVidia video card installed. To make matters more interesting, only certain apps (games) would cause this error.

After troubleshooting like crazy, I found this was a PhysX problem. By simply going to the NVidia control panel and under "Set PhysX configuration", chose CPU under "Select a PhysX processor".

Once I did this, seemed everything is stable again. Hope this helps someone else with this issue.
