Surface Pro Keyboard and Hello

Saturday, December 03, 2016 in Technical Articles (Views: 1758)
I'm sure this may happen to different models, but another quick blog on how to fix yet another annoyance.

Problem statement: Microsoft Surface Pro 3, Windows 10, and Windows Hello with the Surface Pro fingerprint type cover. When the computer goes to sleep, the fingerprint reader only works once the keyboard is detached and reattached.

The fix: Go to Device Manager, to Biometric Devices, and then the Surface Fingerprint Sensor. Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". This seems to have worked so far.

Hope this helps someone else.
