Don't always blame the security guy

Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in Technical Articles (Views: 1168)
So, this one is for the security guys - the ones always blamed for something breaking.

"Disable Antivirus, whitelisting, destroy your work" they say. Now, security guys aren't always innocent, but they are not always to blame either.

Short thought, was I was working on an issue with Internet Explorer not rendering, and saw other Windows components that required similar scripting weren't either. Come to find out that the McAfee Agent was installed without the actual antivirus engine.

So, simply put, instead of having antivirus causing the issue, the lack of antivirus did. The antivirus would have pulled the policy down in order to resolve the issue.

Another IT headscratcher, and short read...
