Hope you didn't lose those DOS disks...

So, I was playing around with Windows 8. I know Microsoft has touted a lot of "amazing" new features to it, but honestly there is really one that has me excited, which is the addition of Hyper-V.

Back in 2006, I was bored one day and set up a "Museum" of sorts showing off old Operating Systems in Virtual PC - so everything from DOS, Windows 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, even 95. Even had some fun with Netware and OS/2, for those who remember.

So, what is the functionality of running DOS or old Windows on a new OS? Can't we just let the dead bury themselves? Well, if you kept those old game disks, there is still hope. I was playing some of the old (classic) PC games from yesteryear using DOS, and Hyper-V in Windows 8.

Sure, games have moved forward (thanks to things like the XBox or PS3), but never underestimate the power of nostalgia. Replaying games like the "TV Sports" series where there in football you have the guy in the stands with the "John 3:16" sign, or the Baseball where a pitch called a ball will get a guy in the crowd yelling "You're blind!". Of course, how could we forget the adventures of "Tex Murphy" and the lovable, laughable loser Larry Laffer from Sierra Online fame.

Hope you kept those old program disks - been a lot of fun resurrecting the past and looking at how far computer gaming has come.
