Linux: Adding and Creating Users

Friday, January 25, 2019 in Linux (Views: 366)
Another quick little blog on creating users in Linux.

Really it's just a simple command like Windows, and you don't need a UI to do it.

To create a user, there is the useradd command.

Simple usage (and use user1 as an example):
useradd user1: This will add a user, user1 but without a home directory. To create the home directory:
useradd -m user1. This will create /home/user1

For best results and not have to set or change the password later, let's create user1 with the password "Password1"

useradd -m user1 -p Password1
